No not any longer

Are silkscreen transfers and DTF transfers the same thing?

No, they are produced using different inks and different printing processes.  

What can I press a DTF transfer on to? 

Everyone thinks of tee-shirts, but they can be pressed onto almost any cotton or cotton poly you can lay flat. For example tote bags, pillow covers, boxers, sports team shirts. DTF transfers can also be pressed onto 100% polyester items as well.
